Job Description

• We are seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Supervisor to oversee and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental policies across our operations.
• The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promote a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance, especially in field and offshore operations.

Responsibilities

• Implement, monitor, and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and regulations across all worksites.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify hazards.
• Lead incident investigations and prepare reports with corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE induction and training programs for staff and contractors.
• Ensure proper documentation of all HSE activities and compliance with local/international standards.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and contractors on HSE matters.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and awareness campaigns.

Requirements

• B.Sc./HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years HSE experience in the oil & gas servicing sector, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work effectively in field/offshore environments.

Core Functions
Recruitment & Staffing:

• Support in developing job descriptions and specifications.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment cycle (posting jobs, screening resumes, scheduling interviews).
• Coordinate with HODs for staffing needs.
• Ensure proper documentation for new hires.

Onboarding & Orientation:

• Conduct employee induction and orientation sessions.
• Ensure new hires complete onboarding checklists (documents, IDs, tools, policies).
• Liaise with Admin/IT for smooth setup of new staff.

Employee Records & HR Administration:

• Maintain and update employee database and personnel files.
• Prepare HR letters (confirmation, promotion, transfers, disciplinary).
• Handle attendance monitoring and leave management.

Performance Management Support:

• Assist in cascading performance objectives (OKRs/KPIs).
• Follow up with HODs on timely appraisals.
• Compile appraisal reports for HRM’s review.

Employee Relations & Engagement:

• Act as first point of contact for employee concerns before escalation to HRM.
• Organize staff engagement activities (knowledge sharing, wellness, stay interviews, etc.).
• Conduct exit interviews and track trends for reporting.

Training & Development:

• Identify training needs from performance reviews and manager feedback.
• Coordinate training logistics (schedule, facilitator communication, feedback forms).
• Track training completion and effectiveness.

Compensation & Benefits Administration:

• Support payroll by submitting attendance/leave updates to Accounts.
• Administer benefits like HMO, pensions, staff allowances.
• Respond to staff queries on pay and benefits.

Compliance & Policy Implementation:

• Ensure HR policies and labor law compliance are followed.
• Track contract renewals, confirmations, and expiries.
• Prepare HR reports for management on compliance issues.

Reporting to HRM:

• Provide weekly/monthly HR updates (hiring, attrition, training, welfare).
• Escalate sensitive employee issues to HRM.
• Support HRM in strategic HR initiatives (talent management, restructuring, branding).

Role Overview

• We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Operations Personnel to oversee and manage our marine operations, with a strong focus on houseboats, barges, and fleet management.
• The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, while also supporting maintenance, logistics, and future fleet acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management:

• Oversee daily marine operations, including houseboats, barges, and support vessels.
• Monitor vessel movements, utilization, and performance to ensure operational efficiency.
• Supervise crew and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company policies.

Maintenance & Safety:

• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for all marine assets.
• Implement safety and compliance checks in line with NIMASA, DPR, and international standards.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues, downtime, or breakdowns.

Procurement & Cost Control:

• Support procurement processes for spare parts, consumables, and marine equipment.
• Monitor budgets, cost control measures, and recommend cost-saving strategies.

Project & Logistics Support:

• Manage logistics related to deployment of houseboats/barges to offshore/riverine locations.
• Coordinate with project teams on marine support requirements.
• Assist in planning for future vessel acquisitions and upgrades.

Leadership & Reporting:

• Lead, mentor, and manage marine operations staff and crew.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance, and costs.
• Act as primary liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree an advantage).
• 10+ years’ proven experience in marine operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or senior role.
• Strong knowledge of houseboat and barge operations in oil & gas or marine logistics environments.
• Familiarity with NIMASA regulations, marine HSE standards, and vessel maintenance planning.
• Demonstrated leadership ability with strong team management skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Certification in ISM/ISPS, STCW, or Offshore Survival (BOSIET).
• Experience with marine procurement, contracting, and vendor management.
• Strong technical background in vessel maintenance, repairs, and operations.
• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
